My current research is studying spatial and temporal changes in human activities in the Mediterranean Sea in the last 70 years, with a particular interest in areas beyond different aspects of shipping. Currently, I'm focusing on accidental oil spills and illegal discharges from shipping. The aim is to better understand the "real" spatial and temporal changes in human impacts and how international regulations and guidelines can prevent future human threats.
