My technical role are as
follows:

Involved
in a mine burial prediction project
This projects is to investigate the burial
status of a mine like object using a combination of water current flow data,
wave speed and direction and seafloor grain size parameters. This capability
can be used to assist underwater security.
o Operator
of ADCP’s (AWAC, RDI and ZCELL), CTD,
WaveDroid measurement buoy, SVP, AUV
o Calibrate
and troubleshoot faulty instruments
o Assist
with the design and execution of the experiment
o Deployment
and retrieval of the instruments
o Data
analyses
o Collect
sediments

Seawater
quality monitoring program
This
project is to monitor the seawater quality status where the SA Navy operates (Simon’s
town and Gordon bay)
o Plan
seawater sampling
o Operate
CTD for oceanographic data measurement
o Collect
sea water sampling
o Write
technical report
Adhoc scientific services offered include but not
limited to the following
o Calibrating
and troubleshooting oceanographic instruments
o Provide
meteorological and forecast products to
the client during international trips. Weather forecast which includes early
warning
o Gathering
and analyses the historic weather data in support of other domains at IMT
o Collecting
environmental information such as salinity, humidity, waves, sea and air
temperature etc; in support of specification required for the client
o Capturing
of internal and external spatial Metadata according to ISO 19115/SANS 1878 standard
using GIS system.
o Conducting
a short (basic) training course on the operation of CTD, SVP and ADCP for the client
newcomers.
