Activities
Conducts marine aquaculture research through need-driven, basic, adaptive and strategic research (e.g. breeding, monitoring programmes, surveillance etc) for responsible and sustainable mariculture productions practices in Namibia, providing supportive scientific information in line with the Aquaculture Act 2002 (Act no. 18 of 2002) and associated regulations; establish a water quality monitoring system and develop technology and enhance productivity/efficiency. Develops and conserve genetic material for current and future aquaculture use. We provide farmers with knowledge and skills in aquatic ecosystems and aquaculture subsector. Finally, we provide scientific and analytical services towards water quality, food safety, biological early warning systems and biotechnology.
