Susan Romeo-Gilbert – Bio
I have over 45 years of
experience in the IT Industry, including a variety of industrial sectors
including Telecommunications, Utilities, Oil and Gas, Finance, Banking and
Education having worked in Canada, USA, UK and the Caribbean.
For my Education sector experience, I am currently
a Convenor and an Instructor at Capilano University, Faculty of Business and
Professional Studies, School of Business, Business Information Management and
Analytics (BIMA) Concentration. I started
teaching in the Information Technology sector in 1990, where I spent 2 years at
the University of the West Indies- Continuing Education, lecturing in
`Introduction to Computer Science` and 3.5 years working full time at University
College London, England, from 1992-1995. I re-entered the Higher Education
Sector in Summer and Fall of 2011, as a visiting Lecturer at the Beedie School
of Business, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada. Here she taught undergraduate 400 Level Courses:
`Selected Topics in Business Administration- Developing a Business Intelligence
Framework` and `Managing Information Technology for Business Value`. I have
also taught “Introduction To Business Technology Management” at Fraser
International College, SFU, for 4 years, from 2013 to 2016.
Previous to being full time in the Education sector, I was a Principal Platform
Strategist with Microsoft Canada, remit being to garner in-depth business
knowledge and determine core business issues as they could be mapped to and
reinforce the value of, the Microsoft Technology to the Customers’ overall
business strategic direction.
For many years, I undertook Business and Technical Management, Subject Matter
Expert (SME) and Lead roles for several GIS, Business Intelligence &
Analytics, Enterprise Architecture and Data Warehousing projects at: Trinidad
and Tobago Oil Company Limited (TRINTOC); Oracle Corporation (UK, USA, Canada);
BC Hydro/Accenture Business Services of British Columbia (ABSU); Accenture;
WorkSafe BC; Telus and Microsoft. I have
recently completed a nine month duration (April-December 2025) consulting
engagement to develop an Information Governance Framework for an emergency management organization's Data,
Analytics and Decision Business Unit.
I have a Graduate Certificate in Executive Management Program (EMP) from Simon
Fraser University, Vancouver Canada; a MSc. Degree - Geographic & Geodetic
Information Systems (GGIS) from University College London, England and a BSc. -
Comp Sc. Major- University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad.
