From 1979 till 2020 I worked at KLM, where I had 3 subsequent functions.
I started at the Logistic Department, where I made crew rosters and was flight schedule planner. For a short period I was capacity planner for a Ground Services department, and from 2000 till 2015 I was Process Analist for Baggage Services. There I had to find out why 10-15% of the suitcases was not on time on board of departing flights.
A computer programm that I designed was developed for me ($1 million), and with that I could get hold of the structural problem. Once that was solved, the number of errors went down to 2-3%, and I lost my job :-).
The last 5 years I did several projects, such as speeding up the invoices administration and reorganise the timetable for KLM-busservices.
Jaap van Rooij developed a fundamental new network system; I supported him with my creative crew rostering work. Together we succeeded to implement a new pattern, by which the number of flights increased overnight(!) with 30% by using the same number of aircraft, flightdeck and cabincrews. After that Jaap and I had to look for another job :-).
As a hobby I suggested Amsterdam City Government to adapt the traffic circulation in the innercity, and the Amsterdam Public Transport System GVB to rearrange the routings of trams. Both were implemented (with some adjustments).

Although I am not an expert on these subjects, I think I found the reason why there were floods in New York and Europe in 2023 and 2024.
I hope scientists are interested in my hypothesis, and can conclude if I'm right or wrong.
