Skills
I am a fisheries oceanographer that is a scientific field that examines the interactions between marine ecosystems and fishing activities. This area investigates the effects of physical, chemical, and biological properties of the marine environment on fisheries and contributes to the development of sustainable fisheries management strategies.
Data Collection and Analysis Methods
- In Situ Data Collection: For my fisheries oceanography research, I collected marine environment data directly at sea. During my master's and doctoral studies, I obtained this data from research vessels, and post-doctorate, from fishing vessels.
- Satellite Data Utilization: I use satellite data to analyze large-scale and temporal changes in the marine surface and its surroundings. This data includes parameters such as sea surface temperature and chlorophyll concentrations.
- Mapping and Visual Analysis: I employ tools like ArcGIS and Ocean Data View (ODV) for mapping and visual analysis of marine data. These tools play a crucial role in revealing spatial and temporal patterns.
- Statistical Analysis: For statistical analysis of data, I use the R programming language. R assists in processing complex data sets to derive meaningful results.
Comment(s)
My purpose in registering to this system is to communicate with researchers working for the Mediterranean, to create projects especially in the Mediterranean basin and to carry out multidisciplinary studies on many issues concerning the Mediterranean. I believe that if we work together, we will have a high chance of comparing the Mediterranean basin as Western, Eastern and even Central Mediterranean and examining and evaluating it holistically.
