Maria is an environmental manager and leader with 23+
years of experience in natural resources planning, developing, implementing,
monitoring, and evaluating environmental and sustainable policies worldwide. Maria
has an extensive career history spanning various roles and locations,
showcasing her expertise in environmental management and sustainability.
At RSK Middle East, Maria currently serves as an
Environmental Assessment Manager for a NEOM project, where she oversees coastal
and marine assessments. Her responsibilities include managing environmental
assessments, providing sustainability advice, and guiding framework
environmental consultants through regulatory processes.
Maria has previously worked in roles such as Program
Manager at the National Fisheries Institute and Provita NGO in Venezuela and
Marine Biologist / Program Manager in the Maldives, where she focused on
sustainable tourism and marine conservation. Her expertise also led her to
serve as a Project Manager at the World Fisheries Trust in Canada, where she
provided technical advice on international cooperation for sustainable
fisheries under a Canada Global Affairs funding. She also assumed the position
of Cumulative Effects Assessment Specialist at the Ministry of Energy, Mines,
and Low Carbon Innovation in British Columbia, where she played a pivotal role
in assessing the environmental impacts of oil and gas activities.
