Most of the work are focused on nutrient and dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) dynamics and in organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus analyses. Main present research interest is the question of the DOM role in marine environment and the quantification of DOM fluxes through the microbial food web. These concern theoretical aspects of biogeochemical cycles and experimental experiences from laboratory, mesocosm and field work, including several cruises (Mediterranean-sea, Tropical Atlantic, Pacific?). Methods have been developed and studies have been carried out on dissolved organic nitrogen and phosphorus production and utilisation (excretion, biodegradation). Some work were also devoted to develop approaches to characterise DOM by fractionation (ultrafiltration, dialysis).
