Skills
Following a M.Sc. degree in marine environmental sciences (Uni. of Genoa, Italy), and a PhD (Uni. Bremen, Germany) I am now a curious and enthusiastic oceanographer with strong communication skills, and a wide variety of interests.
I enjoy challenging tasks that involve team work, problem solving and that cut across disciplines. The topics of my peer reviewed published papers span from ocean biogeochemical modeling, to remote sensing and operational oceanography. My best comes when I work to combine them all in an new way.
Through my living, study and working experiences in different countries (e.g. Egypt, Bahrain, USA and Germany) and/or research institutes (OGS, AWI, NATO STO CMRE) I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new cultures, environments and working objectives and to enjoy the multifaceted strengths of diversity.
Since 2021 I teach marine sciences across a very wide age group: from high schools to elementary schools, including kindergarten and child care. The main objective is to bring ocean literacy where there is no direct contact with a marine environment.
Since 2020 I manage and coordinate all the activities of Oceanitalians, a network of >400 Italian marine scientists I founded to promote cooperation and interaction among scientists and researchers working on any of the many multidisciplinary fields of marine sciences.
