I am a former Regional Coordinator at the United Nations Environment Programme. I have extensive international work experience in the environment and sustainable development, with a wide range of diversified workplaces, including the Arab region and the Middle East. I also had an academic teaching career, teaching geology/environment/remote sensing and GIS. I am keen on linking science to policy. I provide advice and consultancy on developing strategies, frameworks, action and strategic plans for environment and sustainable development, including the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the synergy between SDGs, Paris Climate Change Agreement, and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. I am also experienced in institutional setup, design, and development. I offer professional advice on science-based environmental assessments and policy-relevant reporting on the environment and sustainable development. I am also keen on assessing vulnerability to climate change, impacts, resilience, and communication. I work with organizations on making cities resilient and assessing city capacities for disaster risk reduction and developing resilience action plans. I advise on governance and institutional development for sustainable development and policy analysis and advice. I have extensive experience in inter-agency and inter-governmental negotiations, building partnerships and networking functions, with passionate client orientation. I have strong skills in coordinating networks and large-scale assessment and reporting processes.
