Physical Oceanography

• I, Amieroh Abrahams, am currently doing my Masters at the University of the Western Cape. My field of interest comprise of the processing, analysis and achieving oceanic records resulting from in situ collected data sources and their application to ecological processes along the coastal region of South Africa.  In this process long-term, high resolution satellite data sources are also being used,
  
• For my research i am currently making use of various programming languages such as R, Python and C++ and will continue using these programs throughout my research.

• Capable of writing up research material for submission as a scientific paper. Communicating research findings orally and in a poster format.

• Python programming.

• Certified R-programming trainer via the CarpentryConnect organization.

• Able to explain the concepts of alpha, beta and gamma diversity.

• Capable of collecting ecological data at the appropriate scale, which would lend themselves to a quantitative analysis.

• Able to understand the current hypotheses that attempt to explain species assembly processes in space and time.

• Capable of using R software and associated packages to do all of the above mentioned analyses.

• Capable of discussing and interpreting the outcomes by written and oral means.

• Capable of using Statistical/software competence: the management and analysis of ecological data; reproducible and collaborative research; the use of R as a tool for the analysis multivariate ecological data; multivariate techniques such as nMDS, PCA, RDA and cluster analysis; graphical data summaries and visualisations.

• Capable of designing experiments, managing data and use the appropriate proprietary and open-source software to analyse the data
