Biologist with a M.Sc on Marine Resources. Over 20 years of experience in project management related to marine and coastal areas and strategic planning for protected areas. I have directly supervised and successfully managed more than 100 projects in close coordination with communities, governments and non-governmental organizations. Since 2012, I have been working with conservation trust funds and public-private partnerships, implementing actions towards meeting Costa Rica's conservation commitments with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since 2021, I have been involved with the establishment and management of conservation trust funds and other financial mechanisms for biodiversity and sustainable development in the Caribbean region.
Current Chair for the IUCN Expert evaluation Green List Group (EAGL-CR) / Member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) / Board Member of The Leatherback Trust / Duke University Marine Lab Global Fellow.
