I have a graduation in Physical Oceanography (Geophysical Sciences) from the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon University. A PhD in Probabilistic models of the wave climate in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in which I performed an extensive and detailed study concerning the contribution of the long term probabilistic models in providing a more detailed description of the sea states in different ocean areas contributing to the knowledge of the wave climate. Research on extreme value analysis in the Portuguese coastal ocean and in the North Atlantic and the study of the influence of the extreme conditions in the prediction of operability and loads on ships in all sea states, in the design of marine structures (platforms, wave and wind energy devices, etc.), in the coastal activities and in coastal structures It has been deepened.

I
have completed my PhD under the supervision of Professor Carlos Guedes Soares
at the Technical University of Lisbon, Center of Marine Technology and Engineering
(CENTEC) in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 2014. My
thesis aimed to a contribution to the knowledge of the wave climate using long
term probabilistic models, providing a more detailed description of the sea
states in different ocean areas. Here, beyond continuing research on extreme value
analysis in the Portuguese costal Ocean and in the North Atlantic, I have also started
to study the influence of the extreme conditions in the prediction of
operability and loads on ships in all sea states, in the design of marine
structures (platforms, wave and wind energy devices, etc.), in the coastal
activities and in coastal structures.
