Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology

I undertake monitoring activities on the northwest coast of Mahe, Seychelles. This involves surveys to determine benthic cover, hard coral genera diversity and lifeforms, coral recruitment, reef and commercially important fish density, diversity as well as abundance of invertebrates that are of commercial importance or are ecosystem indicators. 
I also organise the data into a database and conduct the analysis and write the annual report.

• Hydrographic surveying - Side Scan Sonar. Single Beam Echo-sounder, YSI Probe, Multibeam, SWATH system
• Statistics - Minitab, Past, Excel
• Marine Ecosystems - marine mammals, rocky shore ecosystems, coral reefs, hydrothermal vents, marine primary production, oceanic surface currents and marine conservation
• Coral Reef Systems - degradation of coral reefs, coral reef monitoring and health
• Geographic research - surveys, scientific reports, fish stock analysis
