Subject Area
Marine Geology, Geophysics
Activities
• Marine Exploration - Geology – Geophysics
• Seabed Mapping - Morphology Tectonics and Structure
• Geomorphological – Sedimentological processes in deep sea slopes and basins, Submarine landslides – Underwater volcanic structures.
• Deep Sea Extreme marine environments, Mud Volcanoes, Brine lakes.
My main field of interest focuses on the seabed detailed mapping and the
sea floor type identification via the acoustic backscattering. Moreover, I
enjoy the development of new algorithms and mathematical techniques for
enhancing features - structures, and extracting information from geophysical– topographical and remote sensing data. I’ve been specialized in studying the synergy of multi-frequency deep-tow sidescan sonar data, multibeam swath data and coincident acoustic imagery for sea floor type identification.
Sea regions of study
Mediterranean Sea - Eastern Basin
