Activities
For the past 12 years, Martha has been working in Greece as the Communications Officer for the EU-funded projects SESAME and PERSEUS (
www.perseus-net.eu), coordinated by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. Her duties at these posts include dissemination of project results to scientists and the general public, the production of timely press releases, as well as maintaining and regularly updating the project’s website through generation of news content for scientific, media and general public audiences. She is responsible for the project’s internal and external communication, for organising, editing and producing the project’s newsletters in collaboration with the project’s management team and dealing with media and public enquiries as required. Additionally, she is one of the main participants in the FP7 Sea for Society project, which includes consultations with citizens/youth as well stakeholders while she was responsible for adapting and translating all project material to fit national needs, facilitating both citizen/youth and stakeholder consultation sessions as well as producing the final reports to be handed to the coordinators. She has been a member of the European Marine Board Communications Panel since 2012 and has participated in the two European Marine Science Educators Associations Conferences with a strong interest in Ocean Literacy. Recently, she was one of the invited speakers at the European Commission's Atlantic Stakeholder Conference for the Workshop: ‘Ocean Literacy in Europe: Recent Developments and Key Challenges’. She is currently involved as leader of the Blue Schools task in the H2020 'Sea Change' proposal.
