My lab studies the behavior and ecology of stomatopod crustaceans and pygmy octopus. Studies range from sensory ecology and communication to mating systems and feeding behavior. We have been using stomatopods as bioindicators assessing the impactof pollutants on reef systems and to generally monitor reef health. Studies have included following the impact of a major oil spill in Panama and a pollution gradient off southwest Sulewesi. Current work is centered in Belize, French Polynesia and North Queensland.
