"Okeanos is a Centre of the University of Azores dedicated to Research and Development headed to the study of marine living resources in the Azores. It was formerly known as DOP (Dep. Oceanografia e Pescas).
Due to its strategic position in the middle of the Atlantic, this centre makes the difference in advancing the understanding of the opean ocean and the deep sea, for which many important ecological issues remain unknown."
