Sail for ethics -S4E- aims at improving sustainability in the maritime transport, fishing and tourism, adapting hybrid propulsion -sails & engine- on existing ships in coastal regions.

• Description

S4E has for objective to foster decarbonized maritime transport worldwide using hybrid sailing cargoes/passengers ships reconstructed from used freighters and trawlers. Acting on several levers, Sails 4 Ethics makes it possible to simultaneously achieve sustainable and equitable economic and social objectives while preserving the environment.

The locally owned fleets are promoted in developing and emerging countries to increase sustainable South-North and South-South transport of goods -with a special focus on fair trade, organic and ethical economy- and passengers. S4E also supports and participate to sustainable tourism activities.

The reconstruction process takes place on site, benefiting local population with employment and professional skills training ensuring equity.

• Combating climate change through the decarbonization of maritime transport involves all levels of action. The S4E project is positioned at the micro - local scale.

• Sustainable navigation respects biodiversity by reducing chemical pollution and noise pollution.
