Sharklab ADRIA (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) present a fully a separate department (NGO) within the Sharklab International network. Interesting peace of history is that, as stated by National Geographic „Back in 2008, as a high-school student with a dream and extraordinary commitment, Gajić founded Sharklab International with his friend Greg Nowell (in Hamrun, Malta) - which is now a recognized research institution working with departments across Europe, Asia and Africa“. Here at the Sharklab, we believe that each of us play significant and special role in the process of research and conservation. Our projects have been funded and supported by European Union, several governmental bodies in the eastern Adriatic sea, National Geographic, Waitt Foundaiton, Rufford Foundation, PADI Foundation, IDEA WILD and many more. Acclivities of our NGO Sharklab ADRIA are primary based on pathology, ecology, toxicology, functional anatomy, genetics and more – all of that in order to contribute to the knowledge and to establish long-term protection of sharks, skates and rays. The mission of Sharklab ADRIA is to educate and link scientific and research personnel and every interested person, with the aim of biological and veterinary research and establishment of long-term legal protection of sharks, skates and rays in captivity and wild habitats; as well as other organisms inhabiting freshwater, marine and other ecosystems. So far our researchers have published over 200 research papers and several books, and conducted many local and regional project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and beyond.
