Dr Christensen is an ecosystem modeler with a background in fisheries research. His research focus has since 1990 been centered on understanding how human exploitation impacts marine ecosystems, and utilizes ecosystem modeling as the main tool. As part of this Dr Christensen has been central to the development of the Ecopath with Ecosim approach and software, and he has through assisting marine and freshwater scientists worldwide gained considerable knowledge on trophic dynamics of aquatic resources. Has led around twenty international training courses on ecosystem modeling and management
