Activities
I am Dr Geovana
Maria Leon-Pech, postdoctoral researcher at TecNM, México. I earned a PhD in marine ecology from CICESE, Ensenada, México. I have my M.Sc. from CINVESTAV, Mérida, México, I completed a Postdoctoral Research
Fellowship at the University of Rhode Island, USA. My expertise lies in
population genetics, ecology, and biology in coral reef ecosystems, focusing on genetic structure and diversity of marine populations. I initiated collaborations in coral restoration projects, integrating genetic
diversity studies in restored populations and environmental DNA studies. As a
Divemaster, I have contributed to coral reef ecology projects in the Pacific
and the Mexican Caribbean, aligning my work at MARES, A.C., with other academic and
environmental institutions.

Skills
As a researcher, I have expertise in molecular techniques applied to marine ecosystems, scientific diving, and reef monitoring tools. My work integrates environmental awareness and education to promote conservation initiatives. Additionally, I am experienced in conducting scientific research focused on marine biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, and coral reef restoration strategies.
