Researcher at Coppe, The Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ, since 1989. I'm an electronic engineer with a M.Sc in Oceanographic Instrumentation (1994) and PhD in Ocean Engineering with emphasis on hydrodynamics (2007). I was one of the founders of the Oceanographic Instrumentation Laboratory (1990) and of the Ocean Technology Laboratory (2003), one of the biggest ocean basin in the world, where I was the first facility manager. Having developed dozens of R&D projects and supervised undergraduate and graduate students. Nowadays, I work on: data acquisition, analysis and processing; development and deployment of metocean instruments and metrology for Oceanographic Instrumentation. I'm the coordinator of the Ocean Observation Best Practices Program of the GOOS/Brazil and member of the WP7 - Convergence and Alignment of R&I infrastructure initiatives" of the All Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance.
