I am currently employed within the Coastal, Stormwater and Catchment Management (CSCM) Department (Engineering Unit), eThekwini Municipality, South Africa and hold a Master of Science Degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I have over 22 years of experience in Environmental Conservation and in the Built Environment. My experience, enforced by a strong academic background, have led to the development and implementation of environmental strategies to ensure that the CSCM Department complies with the relevant environmental legislation and meets the sustainable development requirements for various projects. I have extensive experience in public participation having convened and participated in a wide range of stakeholder forums as well as developed and implemented communication strategies to disseminate information on a number of projects via different platforms and to obtain feedback from the interested and affected parties. I have gained valuable work experience in the project planning, preparation and funding for projects in the environmental and engineering sector including formulation and management of project budgets, research and management of service providers. My experience covers both terrestrial and aquatic environments as well as sustainable development, waste management, environmental management and reuse of stormwater, climate change and project management. The diverse projects that I have worked on has required an analytical mind to analyse different types and quantities of data and to make practical recommendations which, can be implemented at various timeframes and within the limits of available budget.
