As a part of my research I have Participated in 11 multi-disciplinary oceanographic cruises on-board FORV Sagar Sampada with over 300 days at sea and member of two International Expedition –Kochi to Mauritius , Kochi to Oman.
Eight years and Two months research experience in biological oceanography. I was associated with the Project “Assessment of Myctophid resources in the Arabian Sea” from September 2009 to November 2012. From January 2013 to December 2017 I was involved in the project "Study of Myctophid Resources in the Western Indian Ocean."
I'm well-versed in collecting samples and data with a variety of on-board instruments, including mesopelagic trawls, Cosmos trawls, Issac Kid Midwater trawl, HSDT trawls, EXPO trawls, Bongo Nets, Multiple Plankton Nets, CTD, Grab and Dredge-etc. Experienced with various scientific works in the project, including acoustic estimation of myctophid resources, taxonomy, Deep Scattering layer studies, data and sample collection using on board facilities, including estimation of dissolved oxygen, collection of phytoplankton, micro, meso, and macro zooplankton.
Specialised in Deep scattering layer studies, Deep Sea fish studies, Mesopelagic fishes especially Myctophids their taxonomy and systematics, Biomass estimation using both trawl surveys and Acoustic surveys. Worked on the target strength estimation of myctophid fishes using Kirchhoff ray model and Geometrical models.
Experience in Zooplankton sorting up to group level and some groups up to genus and species level. Experienced in Fish egg and Larvae sorting of mesopelagic fishes especially Myctophids up to species level. In addition, I worked on the data collection sorting and length weight analysis of Sardines from Thrissur district as a part of CMLRE's Project Short-Term Prediction of Sardine Mackerel and Anchovies in the same period.
I am trained to use of several statistical and analytical software packages such as surfer, Grapher, ODV, PAST, SPSS, and PRIMER for the analysis and interpretation of biological and oceanographic data.
I worked as Assistant Professor in Contract for 1 year 5 months in PG, Department of Zoology, Vimala College (Autonomous) Thrissur. Subjects which I taught during my tenure was Ecology and Ethology, Systematics and Evolution, Fishery Biology, Harvesting and Post Harvesting Technologies). During this time, I also conducted many national and international webinars, seminars, and quizzes, two audit courses for PG students (Ability enhancement and Professional competency), Question bank preparation, practical and theory exam administration, and the supervision of seven MSc dissertation students. I also worked as an editor of two books that Vimala college published.
I'm currently working on the study of ecological and biological process of the South Eastern Arabian Sea.
