Ocean Information Technology Pilot Project (OIT)

| Summary | The Fifth Session of the GSC received an updated Prospectus on the proposed Ocean Information Technology Pilot Project (OIT). The Committee recognised that the goals were ambitious but that it was an important initiative for GOOS. The Committee endorsed the formation of the Pilot Project in principle, and the formation of a Steering Team. The Project was subsequently presented to the JCOMM Data Management Coordination Group (DMCG) and that Group also gave the initiative strong support. Dr N. Smith agreed to lead the Project, with the assistance of the IOC Secretariat. |
